From video games to tribute albums, Vampire Weekend is ever-present in popular culture, even lending their talents to covers of songs by legends such as Andrea Bocelli to Bruce Springsteen. The 2018 film Peter Rabbit had three of the band’s songs on its soundtrack, “M79,” “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance,” and “Cousins.” Peter Rabbit’s soundtrack also included the original track “I Promise You,” which lead singer Ezra Koenig wrote just for the film. Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist’s soundtrack included the song “Ottoman.” “Jonathan Low” appeared on the Eclipse soundtrack from the Twilight Saga. Vampire Weekend’s songs have been featured in films and other media. Contra, the second album (2010) was their first album to debut at the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200. They released their self-titled debut album in 2008, the same year they won the NME Award for Best New American Alternative/Indie Band. What was originally a rap collaboration between the two soon evolved into a successful band that fuses elements of indie pop and rock with world beats and baroque pop. Vampire Weekend is a rock band created by college friends Ezra Koenig and Chris Tomson.
